COUNTRY CLUBS AND PRIVATE CLUBS

Services for Private Clubs

The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) Private Club Registration permit was originally created to allow non-profit club organizations such as the Fraternal Order of Eagles or Veterans of Foreign Wars to provide alcoholic beverage service to their members in a club house. Under this permit, the organization charges members a service fee for each drink served rather than charging directly for the alcohol itself.

Years later, restaurants and night clubs began using the TABC Private Club Registration Permit as a means to legally serve alcoholic beverages in dry areas. The business issues a membership card customers prior to serving any alcohol. The customers are then charged service and membership fees for the alcholoic beverage service. Texas courts have upheld the right of private clubs to use private business locations such as restaurants as their club house.

The private club designation also applies to private country clubs, and the LaBarba team has worked with many in the Dallas area including Royal Oaks, Northwood Country Club, Lakewood Country Club and Dallas National Golf Club.
