The LaBarba family is active and well-known in Dallas, with family members involved in a variety of businesses, ranging from produce and wine to imports. The Cothrum family, who owns Masterplan and aquired LaBarba in 2015, has been involved in Dallas, Texas real estate since the 1940s. The combination of these two families and businesses have helped clients solve a multitude of problems over many decades.

Joe and Billye LaBarba's two daughters,

Nancy and Patti, have been involved in alcohol permitting for decades. They grew up learning the business and took over full-time in the late 1980s following their parents’ retirement.

Masterplan opens

Following his career on the Dallas City Council, Willie Cothrum founded Masterplan. Since its inception, the business has benefited from stable family ownership and talented employees.

was the visionary Norman Brinker, who developed landmark chain restaurants including Chili’s, On the Border, and Maggiano’s.

WH Cothrum opens first mall in Texas

on Garland Road. The opening was headlined by Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. The project was what would come to be called a mixed-use center that included office, retail and dining.

After World War II,

he married the love of his life, Billye Faye Williams. Together they ran a successful family business specializing in insurance and real estate that operated in the White Rock area of Dallas.
